Seabrook’s wine story is over 140 years old. It all began in 1878 when William Seabrook (W.J.) established a wine merchant business in Melbourne, W.J. Seabrook & Son. The narrative has evolved over the years, and today the Seabrook label is Hamish and Jo’s family vigneron brand, with Hamish the first winemaker in a long line of merchants. He is fifth generation Seabrook, and evident in his wines is knowledge learned from his forebears. Early in Hamish's Career one of the most significant workplace was ‘Best’s’ in Great Western. Here he was taken under the wing of wine industry legend Viv Thomson, where he established his winemaking style. Hamish makes genuine small-batch wines he loves to drink. He is passionate about reflecting the place in which they come from, and he has a hands-on approach to the family’s 20-acre estate. Cabernet SauvignonDark, rich, and concentrated, this Cabernet Sauvignon leaps out of the glass with bright aromas of mulberries and blackberries, along with hints of cedar, spice and dried tobacco leaf. Packed with dark fruit characters, aniseed and liquorice notes, the palate delivers wave upon wave of flavour, balanced with a soft acidity and an elegant and tactile structure. A subtle oak profile and fruit texture give this estate-grown Cabernet a soft, silky finish with astonishing length. The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from our very own ‘Home Block’ estate vineyard, on the Eastern Ridge of the Barossa Valley. The rows are orientated north south and the vineyard captures most of the afternoon sun. The shallow soils consist of innocuous clay and loams over white non-reactive clays. This coupled with the orientation and aspect, allow perfect conditions for early ripening.
